Lucky for us it was a quick and easy find...Texas here we come!
After a few hours on the freeway and a huge change in scenery (Texas is FLAT) it was time to strech the legs of both the humans and the dog legs. Since we also wanted to mark off another state cache, we found a cache appropriately named "Worlds Away"....this is one of the fun things about geo-caching..the interesting places it takes you! This mural is painted on the wall at the back of a jewelry store!
Cruising down the road, we found ourselves at one of the nicest rest stops we've ever seen! They are nicer than some of the homes in CA! AND...they come equipped with tornado shelters! Guess if you're going to get caught in a tornardo, being in a well built, snack equipped, storm shelter is the place to be!
Our next stop wasn't a potty stretch stop, but to take a few pictures. Scattered all over Northern Tx and a bit into Oklahoma were cotton fields. Can't say we didn't expect it simply because we didn't know what to expect. As much as I don't like my job somedays, I can say for 100% sure I KNOW I wouldn't like cotton picking! I can't even imagine what a task that must be in the Tx heat!
Our final stop of the day before we hit the hotel was the daily walk for the dogs. We are making sure that every day we're on the road we are giving them the chance to get out a bit and take a good walk. We got super lucky today finding a park in Oklahoma that was empty, off the main road, and had lots of space. We were able to let everybody but Amy run semi-leash free. Amy has unfortunately shown tendencies to spook and run when she gets nervous so attached to us she stays! The boys had a good time running through the park and the stadium area.

Tuesday we make our way up through Kansas to Des Moines. We decided to stop there for the night for a couple of reasons...1. The drive will be about 3 hours shorter since aren't pushing into Dubuque and 2. Sue can't check into competition registration until 4:00 on Wednesdya so no rush.
That's it for now...need to pack up the lap-top so we can hit the road!
Wish I had known about the cotton. I would have asked you to pick some for me so I can see how it is to spin the raw stuff. Looks like you're having a good time, and we at home are sooooo envious! Love my girls!
